Florida Breakout Players

There is always an abundance of talented players in the state of Florida, and it was a big summer for a lot of players in the Sunshine State. There were a number of guys who exploded onto the scene, earning looks and scholarship offers. Here are three players who emerged as big time players in Florida this summer.

Trent Frazier, 2017 PG, Wellington Wolves: Frazier came into the travel season with some local hype, and thanks to his play all summer, he will be entering the fall on a lot of national radars. The 2017 lefty point guard started his emergence in the first live period in April at HoopSeen’s Atlanta Jam, where he was one of the biggest standouts of the weekend, leaving with a new offer from Middle Tennessee State. He was also a standout in front of a very large constituency of college coaches at Best of the South earlier in July. After BOTS, he earned his first high major offer from Baylor along with an offer from Murray State, and later in July Illinois joined in and offered as well. He will continue to draw a lot of high major interest and could become a player we hear about nationally.

Darius Allen, 2016 SG, Team MOAM: Like Frazier, Darius Allen was fantastic at HoopSeen events. He got his start at Bob Gibbons, where he led Team MOAM to the championship game. He repeated his success at Live Player Festival and Best of the South, where he really showed what he can do skill wise and athletically. Allen showed that he could be a player to watch for over the course of the next few months and could be a guy with a lot of blow up potential. Coming off of his BOTS performance, Allen gained new offers from Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, North Florida, and Jacksonville as well as an offer from Akron after the second July evaluation period.

Wyatt Wilkes, 2016 F, SE Elite: Wilkes is a big forward who can really shoot the ball from deep and has some sneaky athleticism. He was also a big performer at Atlanta Jam in April, where he earned an offer from UAB. However, his recruitment really picked up after the July period, where he earned his first high major offer from Clemson with Virginia Tech and Rice later following suit. At his size and with the skill level that he possesses, it would not be surprising to see a few more high majors jump on his bandwagon down the road. He will definitely be a highly sought after prospect in the Sunshine State.
