Duval proves his elite status
SUWANEE, GA -- No high school prospect has had quite the summer that 2017 Newark (NJ) St. Benedict’s combo guard Trevon Duval has displayed over the past two months. Since the spring, the talented guard has soared up the national rankings. He is now the No. 5 prospect in the 247 Sports Composite rankings.
Duval, a 6-foot-3 scoring guard, had a great spring on the AAU circuit with We R 1. He also was one of the top overall players at the NBPA Top 100 Camp in June. And on the opening night of the UA Finals, Duval stole the show with an epic performance, according to Justin Young.
“I think I’ve been playing pretty well this summer. I’m showing people what I can do with my game,” Duval told HoopSeen.com. “I’ve done a good job displaying my passing ability and showing people I can shoot it better now. Those improvements have really helped me.”
College coaches have taken notice of his recent rise, too. He holds a number of high-major offers, including Louisville, Kansas, Syracuse, Villanova, California, Oregon, UCLA, and Arizona.
“Kentucky, Duke, and North Carolina are the latest schools to start calling. They called right before we came down here for The Finals,” he explained.
With Duval continuing to take his game to the next level, expect more and more scholarship offers to come. He has the attention of the top programs in the country. However, no one has distanced themselves yet.
“No one is sticking out or recruiting me the hardest. Everything is about the same.”
