#BOTS: 16U Top Performers Part 1

As always, the Best of the South was a stage for the next wave of talent to showcase their skill set. Here’s round one of our top performers from the 16 and under division of the Best of the South.

Chaundee Brown, SG, Southeast Elite FL, 2017: A physically imposing presence at the shooting guard position, Brown has elite level size and athleticism. Where he thrives is on the defensive end, where his defense can create transition offense, and in the open he is nearly impossible to stop getting to the rim. In the half court he can put the ball on the floor, get into the lane and cause all kinds of problems for the defense. High majors should be kicking the tires here. - CW

Scootie Bryant, SG, Jacksonville Magic, 2017: I really honed in on Scootie Bryant at the Live Player Showcase on Wednesday. Once I was tipped off and Bryant as a player to watch, I could immediately see why that was the case. He's a point guard that also has the ability to lead a team via scoring. His quick, athletic, and strong for his frame. Given the lack of point guards in the grassroots scene, Bryant has to be considered one of the more intriguing prospects at the position. - KK

Gerald Liddell, SF, Nike D1, 2018: There may not have been a more impressive discovery for me than Gerald Liddell. When I first saw Nike D1 play, I wasn't sure what age they were. Then I was informed all the players were in the 2018 class. Oh. That changed things. Liddell was an incredibly impressive 6'7" wing that I have to believe will be a blue chip prospect in his class. Often times he was the best player on the floor, regardless of class. High-majors need to have this name circled immediately. - KK

Grayson Murphy, PG, Team Corey Brewer, 2017: Murphy really raised some eyebrows at #BOTS with his play over the course of the weekend. The 6-foot-2 guard isn't the most athletic guy on the court, but he makes up for it with his high motor and playmaking ability. He gives 100% each time out and is a constant pest for the opposition. On the offensive end, Murphy is crafty with his game and understands how to score, and he also is a threat from 3. He definitely raised his stock over the weekend. - GT

Jaylen Sebree, SF, Louisville Magic, 2017: Sebree has all the makings of a future high-major wing at the next level. The 6-foot-6 forward is skilled and smooth with his game. He can score at all three levels, but what is most impressive is his shooting stroke. Once he discovers how good he could really be, expect plenty of high-major suitors to throw their hats in the ring for Sebree’s services. - GT

Jacob Tracey, SG, Florida Elite, 2018: When watching Tracey play, it's hard to believe that he is just a rising sophomore. At a well built 6-foot-3 and playing a true point guard, Tracey has high major written all over him. He has a savvy and understanding of the game that is rare to see in a young guard and does a great job of both scoring and creating for teammates. What I loved about him is everything came in the flow of an offense and he did not force any opportunities to score or make bad passes. This is definitely a name to remember. - CW
