Spring Story Starter: Javien Williams

There haven’t been many prospects that have seized the spotlight and ran with it at our HoopSeen events quite like 2016 Woodlawn (AL) wing Javien Williams. Before the spring started, the talented scorer was unknown outside of Birmingham. Now, he is one of the top wing players the Southeast has seen.

The 6-foot-4 slasher started his story in March at the Alabama Elite Preview. Williams proved he was one of the top players at the camp and from the state of Alabama. He currently finds himself at No. 2 in our 2016 Alabama rankings.

Williams also starred at the Atlanta Jam and Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions with the Birmingham Storm Elite. There haven’t been many games this spring where he hasn’t scored at least 20 points inside Suwanee Sports Academy. A slithery slasher, Williams has been a nightmare for opposing defenses to keep out of the lane. He’s wired to score the ball and has done it as well as anyone so far.

Many coaches took interest in Williams following his play at the #ATLJam during the first evaluation period. That list continues to grow.

“UAB, Bowling Green, High Point, Middle Tennessee State, Cincinnati, UNC-Wilmington, Tennessee Tech, Gardner Webb, Murray State, Georgia State, Troy, Austin Peay, Texas Pan-American, Lipscomb, and Arkansas are interested in him,” Williams’ AAU coach, Myreon Jones, told HoopSeen.com. “There are several others too.”

As Williams continues to stay in attack mode and score in bunches, more and more schools will continue to express interest in him. Expect the high-volume scorer to be monitored by a handful of high-major schools come July.
