Spring Story Starter: Alston Davis
In the first April live period, we had a number of players and teams from all over the southeast try and earn their way onto the radars of a multitude of college coaches at the HoopSeen Atlanta Jam.
One of the teams that left a huge impression with those coaches was the Charlotte Aces, who were loaded with Division I quality talent, size, and athleticism. While we knew about a lot of that talent, one guy that gained our attention was New Hope Christian (NC) 2016 wing Alston Davis.
Davis is a lengthy wing with high major caliber size and athleticism and certainly passes the eye test. However, where Davis really sparked interest was in his motor and energy, always going full throttle and never stopping.
Davis thrives in a fast-paced style game where he can get into open space, get to the rim, and finish well above it. He also causes a lot of havoc on defense, where he came away with a number of steals resulting in some easy buckets.
A dual-sport athlete who has recently focused on basketball, Davis’ recruitment still had not fully taken off at the time of Atlanta Jam, but that soon changed with the attention he drew. Mid majors and high majors should keep him on their radar for the upcoming July period and into next season.
