Spring Breakdown: New Orleans Elite 16s

New Orleans Elite 16s

Record: 21-3

Notable Wins: Adidas Gauntlet 1, Battle of the South Champions, Adidas Memorial Day Classic Champions

Quote on a player from the coach: Devontaevean Martin has been our best player through the spring period. He’s long and rangy on the defensive end and when he’s locked in, he creates havoc. Offensively, no one in the country can stop him from getting to the rim, and when he goes, watch your head!”

HoopSeen Breakdown: There’s no doubt, New Orleans Elite has put themselves in the discussion as one of the top 16U groups in the country. They don’t necessarily have one guy that is a star, but the team has a solid group of players that understand their role and want to win. In addition to Martin, 2017 forward Devin Gilmore has played well. He has a nice combination of skill and athleticism for a forward. Tre Swilling and Lamont Berzat hold down the backcourt and won’t back down from any guards in the country. With coaches beginning to target 2017 players, expect New Orleans Elite to be a program monitored by many different college coaches.
