Montgomery-DeLaurier springs onto national stage
There haven’t been many more popular prospects this spring than Team Loaded’s Javin Montgomery-DeLaurier. He used a successful spring campaign to put his name on the radar for high-major programs.
With offers virtually coming in daily, the 6-foot-9 St. Anne’s-Belfied (VA) big man has seen his stock rise tremendously. He now holds scholarship from schools all over the country.
“Florida, Wake Forest, Miami, Clemson, Xavier, Cincinnati, Notre Dame, Marquette, Baylor, Boston College, Vanderbilt, Hampton, Mount St. Mary’s, Rice, UC Davis, George Mason, Old Dominion, Texas, VCU, George Washington, Kansas State, Princeton, Richmond, and Virginia tech,” Montgomery-DeLaurier told HoopSeen.com.
Cal, Duke, Wisconsin, and North Carolina are also showing interest in the four-star skilled big man.
Coaches have become fond of Montgomery-DeLaurier’s combination of size, skill, and athleticism. In fact, he was such a priority for some schools that they conducted in-home visits during the spring, in hopes of establishing a better relationship and showing their high interest.
“Virginia Tech, Clemson, Princeton, Vanderbilt, Harvard, and Texas have done in-home visits with me,” he said.
Montgomery-DeLaurier also plans to return the favors in the future. While he has nothing set, he will make several visits in the fall. However, by that time, he is bound to have even more offers on the table. The schools that have been recruiting him for a while have done well, though. The junior has his eyes set on what he is looking for in a program.
“Really, it just comes down to the best fit. Basketball, academics, and people are my factors.”
Expect Montgomery-DeLaurier to continue to rise up rankings and add more offers as the summer heats up.
