High academic programs chasing after Morris

It has been a busy few weeks for 2016 Dothan (AL) and Southeast Elite power forward Kevin Morris. Between hosting schools for in-home visits and picking up scholarship offers, the buzz around his recruitment in beginning to heat up.

In the last week, Morris has added scholarship offers from three Ivy League institutions: Cornell, Yale, and Brown. With a 3.4 GPA and a 24 ACT, that doesn’t come as a surprise.

Cornell visited Morris last week for an in-home visit. They extended their offer during the meeting.

“Cornell said they love me. They love that I take care of things in the classroom and on the court,” Morris told HoopSeen.com.

After a strong performance at #Gibbons, Yale and Brown followed suit by offering scholarships. The Ivy League is something that interests the 6-foot-8 big man.

“One day the ball is going to go flat. You have to be set up for life.”

Morris also hosted Troy and Samford (another high academic school) for in-home visits. Both schools are on him hard and have been on him the longest.

“Troy was my second offer, so they’ve been on me hard. They just came in and touched base with me on everything they have said,” he explained. “Same thing for Samford. They were my first offer and they are on me hard, so they just came in and touched base as well.”

Middle Tennessee State is another school that is pursuing hard. Morris currently holds offers from the Blue Raiders, Troy, Samford, Cornell, Yale, Brown, UL-Monroe. Tulsa, Vanderbilt, and other Ivy League schools are also interested.

Expect Morris’ recruitment to speed up heading into the summer. With his size and grades, he will be an attractive prospect for many low and mid-major programs.
