#Gibbons Top 16U performers, part 2
It became quite evident during the 2015 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions that the talent at the 16 and under level was off the charts. Our staff will look back at the top performers from the age group all week here on HoopSeen.com. Here’s our second round of player spotlights.
Silvio de Sousa, PF, E1T1, 2018: Sousa burst onto the scene this weekend with his overpowering play and athleticism. The 6-foot-8 big man constantly played above the rim and kept the rims bent at Suwanee Sports Academy. He is a rebounding machine and also runs the floor well. His athleticism also translates to the defensive end, where he can block shots in the half-court, as well as run down players in transition for blocks. - GT
Nate Hinton, SG, Upward Stars, 2018: Hinton was another impressive 2018 prospect playing in the 16U division. Maybe the fastest guard in the building at Gibbons, Hinton plays with relentless motor and effort. Offensively, he gets to the rim with ease and also employs a nice pull up jump shot in the mid range. Defensively, Hinton pressures opposing guards, forcing a number of turnovers and disrupting the offense. - CW
Darius Perry, CG, Game Elite, 2017: Perry did exactly what we have come to expect from him: play hard, play smart, and shoot the ball well. The Wheeler and Game Elite 2017 combo guard was one of the best scorers and shooters of the weekend and as always was a standout on defense. Perry has one of the most well rounded games out of any of the guards in the state, and he showed that his game does not have a glaring weakness at Gibbons. - CW
Collin Sexton, SG, Southern Stampede, 2017 (pictured above): Every time I see the guard from Hillgrove (GA), he keeps getting it done. And he got it done plenty over the weekend. Sexton was one of the top scorers in the 16 and under division and helped his squad make the Final Four. His ball-handling skills and ability to finish through contact allowed him to wreck havoc on opposing guards through the bracket. - KK
Zion Williamson, SG, SC Hornets, 2018: Williamson might have been the biggest surprise of the tournament. He definitely started his story at Gibbons this weekend, and had a lot of people talking about him at the end of the weekend. The 2018, 6-foot-4 wing does everything on a basketball floor. The long lefty was on offensive force all weekend and scored in multiple ways. Williamson shot the ball well all weekend, and showed a ton of athleticism getting to the rim and finishing with some big time dunks. This is a name to remember nationally in the class of 2018. - CW
