Southeast Elite (FL) Program Spotlight
Our friends in Florida believe the 2017 class is one of the best they have had in the Sunshine state in years. That’s saying a lot for a state which is always near the top nationally in terms of producing college basketball prospects. While many college coaches will focus their efforts on the 2016 class during the spring evaluation period, we wouldn’t be surprised to also see a drove of coaches lined up to see one of Florida’s top 2017 teams, Southeast Elite. The Orlando based program will be on display at next week’s HoopSeen Atlanta Jam.
Here are some of the 2017 studs we will be watching:
Wyatt Wilkes - 6’7” SG
Wilkes is a knockdown shooter with sneaky athleticism. According to his coaches he has great court awareness and understands the game. He is also a high academic student athlete.
UCF has offered him and he has strong interest from Florida, FSU, Miami, Stanford, Virginia & Alabama.
Terrell Turner - 6’5” SG (Pictured)
Last year, as a Freshmen, Turner played 17U and competed well against talented upperclassmen. In fact, we saw him at Best of the South in July and thought he was one of the best 2017 guards we saw all summer. Turner is known as a scorer who can put the ball in the basket from all levels. We look forward to seeing how the rest of his game has evolved.
Offers: Rutgers, Memphis, Murray State, Lousiana Tech, FIU, Northern Arizona Interest: Ohio State, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Georgia
Chaundee Brown - 6’5” Wing
Brown’s game is characterized by his strength and athleticism. According to his coaches he uses that athleticism well on both end of the floor. He is a scorer who can get to the rim.
Offers: UCF, Alabama Interest: Florida, Florida State & Miami, Kansas State, Virginia Tech
Malik Williams - 6’7” Forward
Malik set himself apart when he led the state of Florida in blocks as a Freshman and was 2nd in the state this year as a sophomore. He is really long and excels rebounding and protecting the rim. He also has good shooting range.
Offers: UCF, USF Interests: Florida, FSU (strongest), Auburn, Alabama, Miami, Murray State
Don’t sleep on the 17u Southeast Elite team.
Virginia Tech recently offered Southeast Elite's 17 and under squad’s Point Guard, Afernee Munnings. Sandro Noel and Felix Rivera Vega are each intriguing prospects. Both are heading to Prep School next year. Rivera is a good shooter who can stretch the defense at 6’7”. Noel's stock seems to be on the rise. We saw his athleticism and motor at last year’s Best of the South. His coaches are excited about the development of his ball handling and outside shooting making him more of a wing than a post.
