#ATLJAM Top 17U performers

The Atlanta Jam was a monster success, according to the college coaches, travel teams and players that attended our event over the weekend at Suwanee Sports Academy. Our staff debated opinion on the best players we saw at the three-day event during the NCAA live period. Here’s who we liked the very best.

Our staff is as follows:

Jalen Butler - JB

Kory Keys - KK
Garrett Tucker - GT
Carter Wilson - CW

We will also have a “story starter” piece about the guys that used the stage to play their way into the conversation. Our Justin Young will release that story by Tuesday.

Anthony Brown, PG, Team Speights Blue: The 6'0" point guard out of Lake Minneola quite simply showed out this weekend, particularly in his team's championship win over Charlotte Aces. Brown is an unsigned 2015 prospect that holds low-major offers, though I wouldn't be surprised to see some mid-majors kick the tires here soon. Brown is so versatile as a 6'0" combo guard. He has a solid stroke, but his best attribute is his ability to get to the rim and finish through contact. It seemed every time Charlotte Aces made a little run, Brown would follow with a dagger. He was my top point guard at the event. - KK

Avery Brown, CG, Team Speights: The class of 2015 guard was one of the shiftiest guards in attendance at the ATL jam. Since Team Speights (FL) had such a talented crop of guards, Brown had opportunity to prove he could play either guard spot. The 6’2 combo-guard excelled at creating shots for himself or his teammates. Brown also showed the ability to consistently knockdown catch-and-shoot threes.  He already claims offers from Georgia Southern, San Francisco, and FAMU. - JB

Alston Davis, SF, Charlotte Aces: A pure athlete, Davis caught attention right away for his effort. Running all over the floor, the 6-foot-6 wing kept his foot on the gas all weekend. He also showed elite level, high major athleticism throwing down huge dunks in transition as well as an ability to step out and shoot the basketball. The gym was buzzing with his combination of size and athleticism over the weekend. - CW

Brandon Gonzalez, SG/SF, Team Speights: How do you play your way into scholarships? By shooting the lights out. The 6-foot-6 wing averaged three three-pointers a game and hit 21 over the course of five games. He defended the post well, rebounded strong and showed the ability to put the ball on the deck and attack. Terrific weekend for him.

Trent Frazier, 2017 PG, Wellington Wolves: Frazier made a huge statement all weekend with his scoring ability and swagger. In fact, it is fair to argue that no other player at the Atlanta Jam embraced the stage more than the talented Florida native. The 6-foot-2 guard exploded for a couple of big scoring outings, including a 37-point performance on Saturday. The southpaw has a nice mixture of speed and ball skills that make him hard to handle for defenses. He can put the ball on the floor and attack the rim, but his perimeter shooting is impressive. When he gets hot, he is hard to stop from the outside. Frazier has plenty of coaches at the mid-major level excited to see what he brings during the second evaluation period in a few weeks. - GT

Ebuka Izundu, C, Charlotte Aces: If we're ranking players at the Atlanta Jam, I'm fairly certain the majority would choose Izundu as the overall MVP. Credit former Charlotte head coach Alan Major and his staff for even getting a commitment in the first place, but now that Izundu has reopened his recruitment, you can see why high-majors like Tennessee are hot on the trail. The 6'9" lefty has a smooth feel to his game. He's skilled and athletic, two attributes you don't see combined often enough in today's grassroots scene. He has the ability to stretch to 15-feet and score off the dribble. Whomever gets his signature late is getting a good one. - KK

Chrisitan Keeling, SG, Team Power: The HoopSeen staff has had the ability the watch the progression of Christian Keeling, since Team Power (GA) is frequently at SSA events.  Keeling continued his scoring ways this weekend at the ATL Jam. He has always excelled at attacking the basketball, but this weekend he proved he is a consistent threat from the 3 point line. Keeling had multiple games with at least three 3’s. He is receiving heavy interest from Low and Mid-Major schools, expect his recruitment to take off as the summer progresses. - JB

Deloran Oliver, SG, Florida Tarheels: One of the most complete offensive players of the Atlanta Jam, Oliver showcased his offensive abilities by doing everything a collegiate level guard should be able to do: handle the ball against pressure, get to the rim and finish, and shoot it from the perimeter. However it was not just his offense that was impressive. Oliver got after it on the defensive side and drew a number of charges over the course of the weekend. - CW

Preston Parks, PG, South Carolina Raptors Elite: The word that comes to mind when thinking of Parks' game this weekend is crafty. The SC Raptors point guard just knows how to get the ball where it needs to go. He was very good in ball screen situations, making great reads and effectively distributing the ball and shooting it from the perimeter. The SC Raptors always have great guard play, and Parks is the next in line among those Raptors guards. - CW

Andrien White, PG, Carolina Reign: Low and Mid-Major schools looking for a tough combo guard late should look no further than Andrien White, of Quality Education (NC).  White had a strong weekend playing with the River City Reign (NC).  White used his strong, 6’3 frame to attack the basket relentlessly all weekend.  He was easily one of the most explosive guards in attendance. White had several crowd pleasing dunks in traffic. Throughout the weekend, he looked comfortable playing either guard spot.  Western Kentucky, Austin Peay, Longwood, and Stetson have all offered White. - JB

Javien Williams, SG, Birmingham Storm: Attack mode. That was what Williams was in all weekend. He was looking to score the ball and score it in bunches. He was fantastic getting to the rim where he finished at the rim with both his hands and through contact. He also showed a high energy style of play and the ability to defend with pressure. He jumped on a lot of radars this weekend with his play. - CW
