Interest and offers rolling in for Young
Despite only being a sophomore, 2017 Norman (OK) North guard Trae Young is already feeling the attention that comes with being a talented basketball prospect. He holds several offers and a lot more interest is coming in for the talented shooter.
“I have offered from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Kansas State, SMU, UConn, Texas Tech, Houston, Tulsa, Creighton, and North Texas,” Young told HoopSeen.com.
The most recent offer for the 6-foot-2 guard came from Baylor. Young visited the Waco campus for a game recently and picked up a scholarship offer from Scott Drew.
“I loved the Baylor visit. Hanging out with the team and Coach Drew was great. He is a great coach. I love the style of play. They have a great fan support, too.”
Kansas, Texas, North Carolina, Stanford, and Vanderbilt are also showing high interest in the 6-foot-2 guard.
Throughout the college basketball season, Young has visited a lot of schools in the Midwest. He was in attendance for Kansas’ Late Night in the Phog in October, followed by unofficial visits to Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and SMU during the year.
There is still a ways to go in his recruitment, but a couple of schools have made a statement to Young and his family and are recruiting him the hardest right now.
“All of the schools are very mutual right now, but I would say Creighton, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State are coming the hardest right now,” Young explained.
Young will be a popular visit for college coaches this spring. What will be the ultimate factor in where he ends up in the future?
“I’m looking for a school that fits my style of play and a place where I can come in and make an immediate impact.”
Young had a very successful high school season, averaging 26 points, six assists, and five rebounds. Expect more high-major programs to dive into his recruitment soon.
