Brunswick clamps down to win AAAAA state sitle

They say defense wins championships.

Brunswick proved that to be true down the stretch of the postseason en route to the school’s first ever state championship.

Coming off of a semifinal only yielding 43 points to Cedar Shoals, Brunswick once again turned to its defense to lead them to victory.

Using their length and sitting back in a zone defense the entire game, the Pirates only gave up 32 points to an Allatoona team that had been playing very efficient offensive basketball throughout the postseason.

Not being able get anything on the interior with the size of Roger Davis and Kymani Dunham, Allatoona was forced to the perimeter where they just could not convert.

After making their first three of the game, Allatoona did not make another until late into the fourth quarter.

Unsigned senior forward Roger Davis was the standout yet again for Brunswick, as he showed he is capable of doing a little bit of everything.

Davis finished the game with 20 points, 14 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 4 steals.

Kymani Dunham was also a force down low for the Pirates despite missing a few minutes after being hit with an elbow. Dunham provided shot blocking, rebounding on both ends, and converting touches down low into buckets.

The championship win capped off a 21-game winning streak and a school record 29-win season.
