Allatoona is Macon bound
A class AAAAA semifinal that does not include Miller Grove. Sounds strange, doesn’t it?
With the 6-time defending state champions out of the mix, an opportunity was sitting on the table to be taken by Allatoona or Warner Robins.
In a clash of styles, a more structured Allatoona team took on a Warner Robins team that loves to run and gun.
This one came down to three things: execution, execution, and execution.
From beginning to end, Allatoona executed their game plan on both ends of the floor. Their halfcourt offense was clicking on all cylinders, they were knocking down open shots, and they pressured Warner Robins into turnovers on the defensive side.
Who made the difference for Allatoona? It’s hard to say, really. In short, everybody.
The big standouts for the Bucs were seniors Bradley Brevet and Rodney Brown. However, Toona also got great efforts from guards Ephraim Tshimanga, Kevin Perry and Justin Evans as well as forward Drew Swanson.
Everybody had a role for the Bucs and everybody played their role exactly to plan as Allatoona cruised to a 62-39 victory to advance to Macon, where they will take on Brunswick for a chance to win a state title.
