Recruitment on hold for Scissum

HANCEVILLE, AL--- Senior forward Gerron Scissum was all smiles Tuesday afternoon after his Lee-Huntsville (AL) squad defeated Cullman 92-69 to win the 6A Northwest Regional championship and lock in a berth in next week's Final Four in Birmingham.

The unsigned combo forward also went home with the Northwest Regional MVP after stuffing the stat sheet with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists. While both are great accomplishments to add to his already impressive resume, Scissum is still not satisfied.

"It feels great (to win regional MVP)," he told HoopSeen.com. "But I'm not done yet. We're not done yet, either."

Scissum's recruitment is on hold for now, at least until after the season concludes. Nevertheless, schools are still giving him their best pitch as things wind down.

"Murray State, Arkansas, Ole Miss, DePaul, Maryland, and Louisiana Tech are the schools recruiting me right now. Murray State, Louisiana Tech, DePaul, and Ole Miss have offered," he explained.

An Ole Miss assistant was in attendance to watch Scissum on Tuesday, and a Murray State assistant made the trip last Friday to see him.

"I'm waiting till after the season to weigh my options. After that, I'll take a look at everything."

At 6-foot-8, Scissum has an intriguing game. His versatility allows him to play both inside and outside and be productive at both.

Lee-Huntsville will face the winner of the Paul Bryant-Homewood game next Thursday in Birmingham.
