The freshman class still has a couple of years to play out, but 2018 Columbus (MS) wing Robert Woodard has already made a splash around the nation.

At 6-foot-5 and 200-pounds, Woodard (pictured left) looks nothing like a freshman. His advanced game doesn't look like a youngster, either. His game includes a rare combination of size and skill that most prospects his age cannot match. Woodard has great form and can shoot the ball from outside, as well as pass and navigate the offense. He's a consensus top 25 talent in the 2018 class.

With that being said, it's easy to believe that Woodard received an invitation to the Team USA minicamp in Colorado Springs during the summer - well, easy to believe for everyone except Woodard.

"It really was an honor to get invited to Team USA. I was really surprised when I got the invitation, though," he said humbly.

Nevertheless, the talented wing was noted as one of the top 2018 members after some good performances. Woodard also took away some important things from his experience.

"It was good to play against the top players in the country and see how their game is," Woodard told HoopSeen.com. "I learned some things I need to work on and what I need to do to get better as a player."

Woodard's experience has helped him progress throughout this season. He has helped lead his Columbus High School squad to a 12-3 record.  

"The season is going pretty good. I've had a great chance to adjust to my teammates and we're really working together as a team to be successful this season."

Team USA isn't the only ones who have noticed Woodard's elite status. Despite not completing his freshman year of high school, several college programs have already shown their interest.

"Memphis and Mississippi State have come to practice. Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Vanderbilt are some other schools who are showing interest."

Mississippi has produced some talented prospects over the years. Devin Booker, Malik Newman, and Mario Kegler are all big names that will be successful with basketball, and young Robert Woodard is molding into a perennial star before our eyes.
