The talent level of Alabama’s 2017 class is absolutely absurd and it continues to get deeper and deeper with every game. Lee-Huntsville (AL) sophomore guard Malik Burnett is the latest prospect to prove he is an elite talent.

The 6-foot-2 shooter has showcased his ability to play both guard positions. Burnett’s knack for running a team comes naturally, but it is his shooting that has caught many people’s attention as of late.

In a game where his team struggled to score, Burnett came through against a talented Madison County team. He piled in 20 points, including 4-7 from the three-point line to help Lee-Huntsville mount a big comeback.

“I think I played good. I executed coach’s game plan and I passed the ball and got my teammates involved,” Burnett told HoopSeen.com following the game at the Huntsville Times Classic. “I wasn’t rushing my shots or anything. I was letting the game come to me.”

Burnett has had a successful sophomore campaign thus far. On a loaded team where he isn’t the first option on offense, the talented combo guard has made the most of his time on the court.

“The best parts of my game are my spot-up shooting, creating and getting my teammates involved, and whatever they need me to do.”

Lee-Huntsville has frequently been on the road early in the season. Prior to Christmas, the Generals had made trips to Atlanta, Corinth, Houston, and Las Vegas. With a national schedule, Burnett is pleased with what he has seen thus far.

“The season is going pretty good. We still have some things we need to work on, but we can do it,” Burnett shared.

Burnett and Lee-Huntsville will now turn to their area schedule as the state tournament approaches. Many believe they are one of the contending teams to win a championship in 6A. With Malik Burnett running the show, a championship run is very possible.
