Powerhouse programs taking stock in Stokes
Receiving college interest from some of college basketball's blue-blood programs could be overwhelming for young prospects, but 2017 Lausanne (TN) big man Isaiah Stokes is embracing it.
The 6-foot-8 big man is the brother of former Tennessee Volunteer and current Memphis Grizzly Jarnell Stokes. So, he's used to the recruiting game a little bit. The majority of the schools that were involved with Jarnell have now turned their eyes to Isaiah.
"I have offers from Memphis and Tennessee," Stokes told HoopSeen.com. "Most of the SEC schools are showing interest too. Kansas is the most recent school. Kentucky, Cal, Marquette, Georgetown, UConn, and Florida are also interested."
Stokes has yet to suit up this basketball season because of a fractured back he suffered during football season. However, he still has big plans for his game.
"I need to work on my shot and finishing around the basket. Mainly, just keeping a soft touch."
"I would say the best part of my game is my versatility. I play inside and outside. It depends on who is guarding me," he explained.
While many schools are showing high interest in Stokes, he has yet to take any visits. That will change soon, though.
"I plan on taking some visits soon. I'm not sure where, but I do want to take some soon."
