The Class of 2017 is still a couple of years away, but that hasn't stopped college coaches from taking their eyes off of 2017 Huntsville (Ala.) J.O. Johnson shooting guard John Petty.

Despite not even playing a game into his sophomore season, the 6-foot-5 wing man already holds offers from several high-major programs. Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Texsas A&M, and Kansas State have all extended offers early in the process.

Those schools, plus a number of others, have been in to further evaluate Petty and his high school team as of late.

"Mississippi State, Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, and Samford have been by for workouts," Petty told HoopSeen.com.

Petty, a gifted player on offense, has made frequent trips to Auburn over the past few years for visits. He was in attendance for the LSU game this weekend. It looks like he will become a primary target for new Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl, who is adamant that he will recruit the state hard.

There is a lot to like about Petty's game, and, obviously, college coaches are noticing things too. At his size and length, Petty has great skill to his game and can score on all three levels. He is aware of what makes him most dangerous, though.

"My shooting and my driving is the strongest part to my game right now," he explained.

Petty and Johnson will be a popular squad in the state of Alabama this season. Along with high-caliber prospects Justin Hopkins and Monaire McCartney, all three will be able to flourish on some of the biggest stages.
