LSU visit behind him, Sampson eyes Cal next
Over the summer, 2015 Baton Rouge (LA) Madison Prep guard Brandon Sampson became one of the most coveted rising senior guards in the country.
Fast-forward to present day, and the 6-foot-4 high-flyer has his list cut down to a manageable list of six schools: LSU, UCLA, California, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, and St. John's.
He took a visit to hometown LSU this weekend and came away impressed by the staff's vision and future plans if he ends up a Tiger.
"It was a pretty good visit. The staff told me that I would fit perfectly into their system, and they told me how Ben [Simmons] and I would be a real threat in the SEC," Sampson told HoopSeen.com. "We also toured the campus and went to the football game."
Now, Sampson's focus will turn towards an official visit to California this upcoming weekend. Cal head coach Cuonzo Martin conducted an in-home visit with the Louisiana native last week, and it looks like the Golden Bears will be a factor in his recruitment.
No other visits are currently on the table for Sampson, who is expected to make a college decision in the spring. However, he did not completely rule out an early commitment.
"Maybe, I'm thinking about it right now," he said in regards to a late spring decision.
Either way, a lucky school will receive an athletic guard that can score the basketball in a variety of ways.
