Brown says yes to Charlotte

He said it was the hardest decision of his life and if you spoke to Bryce Brown on Sunday night, you believed every bit of that.

Brown, the No. 12 overall player in Georgia's 2015 class, committed to Charlotte on Sunday night after officially visiting the Conference USA school over the weekend.

Brown was one of the hottest players in Georgia this month as college coaches from every level wanted more information on the perimeter scorer. He developed good relationships across the board and making the final call was not an easy one.

"Building all of these rlationships with the coaches was made it tougher," Brown said. "I made a lot of relationships with a lot of coaches. I saw how these other coaches helped make some players really good. I felt like those players could have been me if I went to one of those other programs.

"A lot programs were really good in recruiting me. They were not pressuring me. I could seen myself fitting with a lot of other schools and I believe I could play at most of them. With Charlotte, though, the academic process, city of Charlotte, the staff and team, just everything about it made them the one."

Brown told HoopSeen.com that his weekend trip sealed the deal for him. Was there one particular thing with the trip that stood out?

"Academics," he said. "We always preach grades first and then basketball at my house and (Charlotte) exceeded the criteria for me. They have a great foundation for acadmeics. Coach (Alan) Major had a process for his players. They always got better as a team in the classroom.. I think they have a 3.0 GPA, which is great."

From a basketball perspective, Brown said he likes how he can fit into the 49ers system.

"Their style fits me. They get out and run the floor, shoot the transition three. Their player can dribble, pass and shoot and they like that in their program," Brown said. "That's what brought me to Charlotte. Coach Major is a great guy and I look forward to playing for him."

In the end, playing close to home helped seal the deal, Brown said. He's close with his family and having them nearby to enjoy the college basketball experience was important to him.

"My family is a great supporting cast. They were at every single AAU game, every one of my school games. I'm used to having them around," Brown said "They don't put everything in my hand but they put rpesonbilty on my hands. I'm lucky to have a great father, a great mother and a great brother. They suport everything I do and my decision. So, staying close to home was number one. They can see my games."
