Winston Neal, our in-house coach for HoopSeen.com, was at the adidas Gauntlet event in Orlando, Florida and saw a number of talented players. Here's his player breakdowns for the Atlanta Celtics from the action.
ATLANTA CELTICS
Kobi Simmons is starting to separate himself as one of the elite playmakers in the 2016 class. The talented guard has stepped up his game and was in attack mode over the weekend in Orlando.
EJ Montgomery has started the hype machine with his play in Orlando. The 2018 big man has the size to block shots and control the glass but also the skill to step out and make 3’s from the perimeter.
Kaiser Gates did a little bit of everything over the weekend: rebounding, blocking shots, steals, and scoring the basketball.
OVC, A-Sun, Big South, and So-Con schools will be all over the Atlanta Celtics trio of
Malik Benl evi (Johnson HS), Jordan Burrows (Milton), and Travon Bunch (GA Prep Academy). All three played well in Orlando and will earn a lot of interest from colle ge coaches in July. The Atlanta Celtics 15U team has a good core of young talent for coach Demond Stephens. Drew Smith (St Francis) has size and the ability to shoot the ball, Monaire McCartney (Johnson HS) has the length and stroke to catch HM coach’s attention, Jordan Usher (Sequoyah HS) is a talented young guard with size that has a knack for scoring the ball.
