Florida players shine at adidas Gauntlet
The state of Florida is loaded with talent and no one knows that better than Winston Neal. He coached at Jacksonville University for nine years before joining the HoopSeen.com staff. Neal was in Orlando for the adidas Gauntlet and breaks down the Sunshine State players.
Florida Elite had a good weekend in Orlando and came away with a big OT win over Team Loaded (VA). The trio of Donavan Hale (Largo HS), Deng Adel (Victory Rock Prep/pictured above), and Ed Porter (The Villages) gives them HM size and scoring on the wing. This is a team to watch out for in Vegas.
Chad Brown (FL Elite/Deltona) showed toughness and fight in the post. He battled Thon Maker defensively, rebounded both ends, and scored back to the basket.
Deng Riak (FL Elite/Victory Rock Prep) the developing big man should get a lot of HM coaches out to see him this summer. Per his coach Virginia Tech has offered which usually leads to more HM interest.
Taylored Athletes have a nice combination of guards in Ben Bobbitt (Providence) and Alexis Rosemond. Ben is a strong, physical PG with a good stroke, while Alexis is a combo guard with a knack for scoring the ball (put up 30 vs. a very good Mass Rivals team).
