Dickerson ends recruitment, picks Georgetown
Montverde Academy (FL) and former North Atlanta star Noah Dickerson ended his recruitment on Saturday morning when he committed to the Georgetown Hoyas. The 6-foot-7 interior bruiser called head coach John Thompson III and let him know of his decision not long after the sun rose.
Dickerson said he was ready to end his recruitment and knew Washington D.C. was the place for him.
"The academic piece of Georgetown really did it for me," Dickerson told HoopSeen.com in between games at the Dallas session of the Nike EYBL. "It is a great private school and it has great academics. i want to study business and Georgetown is known for their business school and politics."
No stranger to the path of players before him, Dickerson said he's looking forward to working hard at developing into a productive big man for the storied program.
"They have a history of great post players and the offense goes well for a player like me," Dickerson said. "I know I can get better and I know Georgetown can do that for me...I want to help carry on the legacy of great Georgetown big men. I would like to be the next great Hoya big man."
Dickerson said he's been to Georgetown two or three times already and has developed a good relationship with all of those involved with the basketball program.
"Coach Kevin (Sutton) is my recruiter. I've grown to love him. He's a great guy and a great coach. I talk to the entire staff all of the time. All of them," Dickerson said. "I talk to the players - all of them - all the time, too. I talk to all of the committed 2014 players all the time. I can't wait to play with them when I go up there."
Dickerson said he also strongly considered Ohio State, Florida and Virginia. He said he wants to use his final year at the nationally renowned Montverde Academy fine tuning his body and game to be ready to play as a freshman.
"I have to keep hitting the weight room. I lost a lot of bad weight and now I need to take the time to gain it back in the right places with muscle. I have to work on my dribbling, jump hook and my shooting, too," Dickerson said.
