Ingram emerging in 2016 class
When you look at Georgia's loaded 2016 class, there are a lot of scorers. There are a lot of wings. And there are a lot of versatile players in the deep group. Then there is Jailyn Ingram of Morgan County. The 6-foot-6 wing is one of the more unique guys in his classification and he's been on the upward tract all season and emerging as one of the more promising prospects in the Southeast.
Ingram is averaging 15.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.4 blocks a game for Morgan County, one of the hottest teams in Georgia during the 2014 schedule. He played a big role for the team at the Chick-Fil-A Classic in South Carolina and helped MCHS make it to the championship game of the Nike/BMASP Holiday Classic.
Ingram shined once again on Monday for the Bulldogs at the BCB/MLK Showcase against Clarke Central.
"I think I'm playing pretty good right now," Ingram said after posting 15 points and nine rebounds against CCHS. "I think there are some things that I can probably do better but I think I'm doing good. I can flash to the high post and work with (Tennessee bound big man) CJ (Turman) or I can kick to help side to Tookie (Brown)."
Playing alongside two other Division I players has helped Ingram gradually develop into a major prospect. He said he has picked up a lot playing alongside the two for the last couple of seasons.
"I'm pretty fortunate because I don't have to rely on myself. I can use them two to help to me develop," Ingram said.
A number of schools seem to think so, too. Ingram said Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Tulsa, Tennessee, George Mason and others have started to actively recruit him.
While he doesn't hold any offers yet, don't be surprised to see Ingram emerge as a top 75 national prospect this year. He'll suit up with the Atlanta Celtics.
