Class of 2014 Rankings - Jan 2014
We are at a good midway point in the 2013-2014 high school hoops season and our HoopSeen.com team has been to over 100 games already this year all over the great state of Georgia.
With that, there was a need to update the class of 2014 rankings for the state of Georgia. We've added four new players and shuffled the deck in the middle of the listing.
SOME THINGS REMAIN THE SAME
The top seven positions in the state remain the same. And that's a good thing. It means all of the seniors are competing at a level they set for themselves.
Jakeenan Gant is having a big senior season, posting 24 points, 11.3 rebounds, four blocks and 3.3 assists a game for Effingham County. Isaiah Wilkins is the best player on one of the best teams in the country. He has stayed the course this year.
Tadric Jackson is thriving in South Georgia and could help Tift County make the march to Macon. TeMarcus Blanton is ever improving and has shined for Luella at a number of big events this year. Ahmed Hill of Aquinas was absolutely brilliant at the Chick-Fil-A Classic in December.
All and all, those with big reputations are improving and preparing their games for the next level. When the top of the pack is setting the bar high, it trickles down. The byproduct is good basketball. If the season has taught us anything this year it is this - be ready for a wild ride as teams compete for Macon.
THE NEW FACES
Rakim Lubin (Buford/UConn) makes a big debut. The move-in from Alabama has made his muscular presence felt right away in the Peach State. We've slotted him at No. 11 overall in Georgia.
Daniel Fowler (Allatoona) was not himself on the travel circuit after nursing a foot injury. He's back at it and in full strength. The results have been positive. He's the captain of one of the remaining unbeaten teams in the state. Fowler checks in a No. 22 overall.
Kendall Crute (North Cobb Christian/Ohio) is enjoying a solid senior season, a remarkable feat considering he had cancer removed from his lungs at the beginning of the basketball season. Crute is No. 24 overall.
Ahmad Caver (North Gwinnett) is one of the several fine pieces for the Bulldogs and did enough of the dirty work to find a spot in the top 30, checking in at No. 29 overall.
