Five Games to Watch This Week

Picking five games this week to watch wasn't easy. We could have easily gone to 20. Nevertheless, here are the five games that we've picked for you to see this week in Georgia high school basketball. As always, we did all of the work for you and hope to see you in the gym.

Tuesday, Dec. 10
No. 4 St. Francis at No. 13 Whitefield Academy 7:30 p.m.:
The private school division of Class A is loaded this year in Georgia, especially in Region 6B-A. Both teams have been chomping at the bit to lock horns in this one. There are some great match-ups to keep an eye on in this one, including Whitefield's Eric Lockett against Kaiser Gates. There are, at a minimum, six Division I prospects in this game. Buckle up, this one should be a fun one.

Saturday, Dec. 7
No. 9 Norcross vs. No. 17 Greenforest Christian 3:30 p.m.:
On Saturday, Norcross lost to Wenonah while Greenforest dropped a close one to a good Cedar Grove team. Think both of these programs are looking for a game to reclaim their place in the good win column? You better believe it. Both teams won state championships last year and this game has been circled on the HoopSeen.com calendar for quite some time.

No. 8 Savannah vs. No. 18 Sol C. Johnson 7:30 p.m.: The state's best rivalry is off and running again on Saturday night. This is always one of the best games in Georgia. It will certainly be sold out and loud. It always is. The rematch of the AAA state championship game has a number of match-ups to watch. Keep an eye on the Jamal Norman (Savannah) vs. Hakeem Coney (Johnson) battle.

No. 11 North Cobb Christian vs. No. 5 North Gwinnett 5:00 p.m.: Both teams have good guards and good starting fives. NCC is senior laden while North Gwinnett is anchored by a core of juniors. Keep an eye on the Kendall Crute (NCC) and Ahmad Caver (NG) match-up. That's a good one.

No. 2 Miller Grove vs. No. 4 St. Francis at GAC 8:00 p.m.: The nightcap game of the Blue Collar Basketball Showcase should be a good one. For the second straight Saturday, Miller Grove will play a major state championship contender. This one is a battle of paces. The Wolverines like to keep the games in the low 60s while St. Francis is averaging 83 points a game. Which team will force the pace? We'll be watching.
