Sleeper Spotlight: Daniel Fowler

As colleges and universities look ahead to the late signing period, the recruiting deck is getting shuffled in basketball offices. Those programs looking for a scoring guard might want to spend some time at Allatoona High School and see senior Daniel Fowler.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound guard is back to his familiar place in the starting lineup for a team that has gone 49-12 over the last two seasons.

Fowler was off to a great start in the travel season with Aim High but an ankle sprain sidelined him longer than he would have liked. Now back at 100 percent, the senior is back at it. Talk to his coach Markus Hood and the Pirates have a player that could do some damage in the always-talented Cobb County area.

"I think he's one of the most missed on players out there," Hood said. "His first days of practice he was a man against boys. He has thrown down, he has dished, he has shot the heck out of it. He's such of all-around player."

Fowler says he can feel a difference in his game already.

"I feel like I'm back to where I am," Fowler said.

He scored 27 points in a scrimmage to open the season.

"I plan I bringing everything out. I can't really explain it. I'll just show it when I play," Fowler said.

The goal is simple this senior season - win. That shouldn't come as a big surprise to any competitor. The difference, Fowler says, is the responsibility to do that falls on his shoulders.

"I want to win a ring. I want to win the region championship. I want to win the state championship," Folwer said. "We have to all be on the same page and we can't be selfish. If we stick together and do what we know what we can do, we can achieve those goals."

His recruitment is coming along slowly. For now, at least. With zero scholarship offers, Fowler is hoping to play his way into the conversation. Wofford and Elon have shown introductory interest so far this fal. But the rest is up to him.

"I just want to play and show them what I have," Fowler said. "I'll go from there."
