Davis is ready for the MACtion
During the last week of the July evaluation period a number of schools lined up to see Smryna Stars power forward Raasean Davis. The 6-foot-7 power forward from Paulding County High School was a hot prospect.
In the end, it was Kent State that won out. The senior committed to the MAC school on Wednesday night.
"From day one they were consistent in recruiting me," Davis said. "I felt like they were the most real and straight up with me. They showed me the love. I could just tell they really wanted me. I just felt like after my visit that was where I wanted to be."
Hawaii and Mercer also were heavily in the mix down the stretch, Davis said.
"I feel like I can reach my full potential there and be all I can be there. I feel like they will work with me, push me and be patient with me at the same time," Davis said. "That's perfect for me."
Rob Senderoff has done a fine job of mining under-recruited talent and developing them into important producers at the MAC school. Davis thinks he could be next important player for Senderoff.
"He wants me to be an all-conference player, play overseas and have success. He wants me to be that bull, that man," Davis said.
After visiting the school two weeks ago, Davis said he was ready to commit on the spot.
"The same day we left, I told my parents and coach that I was going to commit there. They told me to give it some more thought and to make sure this is what I really wanted," Davis said. "But, to be honest, I didn't have to give it much thought. I already knew that's where I wanted to go."
