Morgan County center CJ Turman travelled north over the weekend to see the sights of the University of Tennessee for an unofficial. The trip was beneficial enough for the big man to commit to the SEC program on Sunday.

The 6-foot-8, 245-pound cut-from-granite big man didn't waste any time ending his recruitment. He saw enough with the Vols to make the decision an easy one.

"The head coach was recruiting me and that was really important," Turman said. "I think I can have the same kind of relationship with him like the one I have with my high school coach."

Morgan County head coach Charlemagne Gibbons said Cuonzo Martin's role played a big part in the big fella's decision.

"He spear-headed the process," Gibbons said of Martin. "He was able to build a good relationship with C.J. Put that with how (Martin) develops his players, I think that was the reason. (Martin) will help make C.J. a better player as a junior or senior in college than he is a high school player. That development was big."

For the Vols, the team is looking for a big-body to take over the role that will eventually be left by Jarnell Stokes, another beast of a big man.

"They like the way I rebound, block shots and run the floor," Turman said. "I can see myself doing all of those things for (the Vols)."

Turman continues a nice run for the Vols in the Peach State. He joins Whitewater power forward Phil Cofer in the 2014 recruiting class. Turman also considered Mississippi State and Houston.
