Mitchell cuts list down to eight based on relationships
The decision of narrowing down a list is never easy for a high school student. Especially, when many of them are trying to pick a school where they plan on attending the next few years.
Devin Mitchell is going through that process. After being offered 30 college offers and some interest, the Collins Hill High product has narrowed his list to Kansas State, Georgia, UAB, Wake Forest, Alabama, Mississippi, Memphis and Cincinnati. There is no particular order for Mitchell, who is looking to lock in some scheduled visits here shortly.
“Most of these were the schools and coaches I felt comfortable with relationship-wise,” Mitchell said. “They all know what I can bring to the table. They all seem like they are the best situations for me.”
What Mitchell brings to the table is a player who can score from all three levels on the floor. He also has depth on his jumper, which is a premium in this Class of 2014 and a desire for college coaches to have at this time.”
He showed he could shoot the ball well all during the high school season with the Eagles, which included a 41-point performance in a tournament. Mitchell then proceeded to bring his shooting touch to both the Georgia Stars and the Southern Kings.
So, how big is having the relationship he has built with all these coaches?
“Relationship is big for me because I play my best when I am comfortable,” Mitchell said. “They have all been recruiting me for a while.”
Right now, Mitchell is not comfortable in giving up in cutting down his list until he schedules a few official visits. However, he is expected to make a final decision in October.
