#BOTS star makes his decision
Troy Holston started the month of July as a guy that had a number of quality mid-major offers and was considered as "a player to watch" by most hoop mavens in Florida.
After his stellar July with North Florida Elite, Holston finished the summer period as a must-get guy for a number of top programs in the South. He ended his surging recruitment on Wednesday with a commitment to South Florida.
"I knew to just be patient and that I'd have my time," Holston said. "USF is a great program. Once I had all of these schools contacting me I finally realized that I wanted to stay in the state. I thought to myself 'Why would I leave the state when I have everything right here in my backyard?' It is only 20, 30 minutes away from me. There was no reason for me to leave."
The 6-foot-4 guard from Oldsmar Christian gives Stan Heath a trusty perimeter scoring threat. The relationship with the coaching staff was developed over time and that played a big part in Holston's decision.
"Coach Heath is a great coach," Holston said. "The program is up and coming. I believe this year they will have a great year with the pieces that they have. I just really like the coaching staff. Coach (Mike) Wells is a great coach. He used to coach in the NBA and work out Kobe Bryant. He was a skill developer. If I work out with him, he's going to get me to where I wanted to be."
"They've seen me since my freshman year. They've seen my great games, my good games and my worse games. They probably know more about me than anybody."
Holston is the first commitment for the Bulls in 2014. He also strongly considered Miami.
