#BOTS Spotlight: Troy Holston, North Florida Elite

Andy Kennedy, Ray Harper, Bruce Weber, Josh Pastner, Steve Prohm and Stan Heath all have something in common. The head coaches have all made it a point to see and be seen with Oldsmar Christian (Fla.) guard Troy Holston.

The 6-foot-2 scorer has been a popular player for the head coaches this week at the Best of the South as he continues to pump in the points as his North Florida Elite team marches forward in bracket play.

Holston is one of the top scorers in the event and a must-see guy for coaches that are in need of a scorer/shooter at the two-guard position.

Holston said he has offers from Ole Miss, USF, Western Kentucky, Murray State, Kansas State, Utah State, Kent State, Duquesne, Texas Southern, College of Charleston and, most recently, Memphis.

So, why the surge?

"My intensity on offense and defense, I think," Holden said. "I've just been waiting for my chance. I think I'm playing well."

He is indeed. Ole Miss's Kennedy has watched Holston the most during the Best of the South while Harper (WKU), Weber (Kansas State), Pastner (Memphis), Prohm (Murray State) and Heath (South Florida) have all been at several games.

Holston's shot has been the bell that rings the coaches over. The class of2014 prospect knows where his value lies, too.

"It gives a lot of value because there aren't a lot of kids that can shoot the three as consistent as I can," Holston said. "There are a lot of people that can dunk but there aren't a lot of people that can shoot. I think that makes me stand out and have value."

Holston said he told Western Kentucky, Ole Miss and Kansas State that he'd like to make a visit. What is he looking for in a school?

"Best fit where I can come in and make an immediate impact as a freshman," Holston said. :I value education a lot so that's going to be important, too."
