17U Superlatives for the Best of the South
SUWANEE, GA - The Best of the South 17U division was loaded with talent, highlights and great action.
Here is who were some of our top surperlatives for the weekend.
PG: Jordan Watkins, PSB Select
This Providence Day High product was solid in his performance as he ran his team with precision. The Davidson College commit also hit some big shots throughout the weekend.
SG: CJ Jackson, Aim High
Here is a player who took advantage of the moment. The Macon-native and Olympic High product shot the ball, hitting big shots in the most critical moments.
SF: Jaylen Brown (pictured), Game Elite
Coaches lined up to see the Wheeler High product and he didn’t disappoint at any time. He used his strength and skills to show what he can do with or without the basketball.
PF: Isaiah Wilkins, Georgia Stars
He does a lot of things most guys in his position are unwilling to do; rebound, play defense, hit the mid-range and run the floor at all times. The special part about his game is that whatever the team needs he will do with little complaint.
C: Noah Dickerson, Georgia Stars
There was no more dominating presence inside than the North Atlanta product. Any time he touched the ball it was almost like an automatic two points inside.
Top scorer: Rob Gray, Carolina Thunder
Top shooter: Troy Holston, North Florida Elite/Connor Burchfield, PSB Select
Top rebounder: Wilfredo Rodriguez, M.O.A.M.
Top shot-blocker: JohnCarlos Reyes, Game Elite
Top guard: Hassani Gravett, Vanguard Elite
Top wing: Dante Buford, Florida Elite
Top big: Eric Hamilton, Southern Kings
Best dunk: Antwon Clayton, Florida Tarheels
The Eustis High product raced to the rim and had an open runway. Just as he was about to take off, when the poor soul of a defender decided he wanted to take a charge. Unfortunately, the opponent became part of Clayton's highlight footage.
Best play: Eric Lockett, Aim High
The Whitfield Academy product rose above everyone on the Southern Kings and threw down a dunk that left everyone in amazement.
Best game: PSB Select versus Game Elite, 78-77
PSB held a significant lead before Game Elite roared back with its defensive pressure. The Cobb-county based organization had a chance to win the game. However, the shot rimmed out for a PSB 78-77 win advancing to the championship game.
