Stampede Black wins 14U Wallace Prather Memorial championship
SUWANEE, GA – Sports is the best way to erase some bad memories.
For the Southern Stampede Black 14U team it was also a chance that it is a team capable of winning some championship games. On Sunday, they beat rival the D-Favors Celtics 56-46 to win the championship of the Wallace Prather Memorial Classic at Suwanee Sports Academy.
The Stampede had some close games throughout the tournament that concerned them as a team. They then had some players who were struggling to get into a rhythm. All of this only brought them closer and help motivate them against Favors team.
Artis Chapman stepped up to the challenge scoring a team-high 13 points. He helped the Stampede cut through Favors’ defense from all angles. Will Lambert added 10 points to help secure the title.
D-Favors team made its run in the second half. They cut into the lead but were unable to get any closer than within five points twice because of the Stampede’s relentless pressure defense. Acie Brown led Favors with 17 points. Devonte Pulling chipped in with 10 points.
