13U: QCCA forces will on Lions for Jr. Gibbons championship
SUWANEE, GA – Balance scoring was essential in the 13U championship game.
QCAA and Lauderhill waltzed to the finals by dismantling opponents during the Jr Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions at Suwanee Sports Academy that when they met for the finals something had to give. Well, QCAA outlasted the Lions and willed itself to a 62-44 victory to take the title.
QCAA had three players in double-figures, which helped the teams effort. Damon Early scored a game-high 17 points. Kavaudrick Worthy, the nephew of NBA Hall of Famer James Worthy, poured in 16 points. Joseph Tharrington chipped in with 15 points all of which came from 3-point range.
For Worthy’s effort throughout the weekend he was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
They controlled the game throughout but went on a run in the second half, which helped QCAA control the game.
Ricardo Jackson led the Lions with 11 points. Josnal Petithome chipped in with 10 points.
