Georgia Cup I Notebook
Our Mekhi McKinney was on hand all weekend at Georgia Cup I and here are a few players that stood out to him...
Barber Does It All - Norcross Heat 2026
6’5 wing Mekhi Barber continues to impress this weekend, showing off his well-rounded game for Norcross Heat. Barber’s versatility jumps off the page—whether it’s scoring in different ways, grabbing boards, or locking up defensively, he impacts every possession. He’s comfortable handling the ball on the perimeter but just as effective finishing through contact in the paint. His ability to affect multiple areas of the game makes him a prospect who will be tough to ignore moving forward.
Lester Allen Controls the Show - Hoops United
Grayson guard Lester Allen made his case as one of the top point guards in the gym today. Allen’s tight handle and elite feel for the game allow him to run the offense smoothly while also creating scoring opportunities for himself and others. He had stretches where he couldn’t miss, heating up quickly and putting pressure on defenses with his “microwave” scoring ability. Combine that with his playmaking and composure, and it’s no wonder he had the crowd buzzing all afternoon.
Jackman Turns Heads with Athleticism - TDBA SF
Dorian Jackman, the explosive 6’4 guard from Lithia Springs, wasted no time showcasing his athleticism today. Whether he was flying down the court in transition, elevating for dunks, or finishing through traffic, Jackman’s speed and bounce stood out. He also brought relentless energy on the glass, crashing from the wing and securing second-chance opportunities. His nonstop motor made him one of the most entertaining and productive players of the day.
Adams Sets the Tone - Champions Chance
Archer guard Joey Adams caught my attention during Champions Chance’s early win over Norcross Heat. While undersized, Adams plays much bigger than his frame suggests. He was a pest defensively, constantly hounding ball-handlers and forcing turnovers. Offensively, he showed a smooth, consistent jumper and made a living getting into the paint, collapsing defenses, and finding open teammates. His energy was contagious, setting the tone for his squad from start to finish.
Xavier Barber Ready for a Breakout - Norcross Heat 2028
Lanier Christian guard Xavier Barber was a standout at HoopSeen Fall Camps, and he’s carrying that momentum right into the spring with Norcross Heat. Barber’s quick first step, tight handle, and ability to create his own shot make him a tough cover, especially for a freshman. He’s got natural court vision, reading defenses well and finding open teammates. As his confidence continues to grow, expect Barber’s stock to JUMP here soon.
Agbasi Dominates Both Ends - Norcross Heat 2028
Chisimdi Agbasi has wasted no time making his presence felt at Georgia Cup 1. The 6’4 freshman has delivered two standout performances already, proving to be a matchup nightmare on the wing. His physical frame and ability to get downhill allow him to blow by defenders and finish strong at the rim. What’s more impressive is his expanding offensive skill set—he knocked down four threes in Norcross Heat’s win over Team MTXE, finishing with 17 points. Combine that with his defensive instincts and motor, and it’s clear Agbasi will be a force to reckon with throughout the spring and summer.
