4th Grade Boys Championship
Collins Hill 29 v Mountain View 27
Collins Hill brings home the 4th Grade GYBA Championship with a 29-27 win over a tough Mountain View team. This game was a battle from beginning to end, with both teams playing scrappy, full-court defense, causing turnovers that led to transition offense.
Collins Hill built an eight-point lead with under a minute to go before Mountain View knocked down a three-pointer to cut the lead to five. Immediately after, they forced a turnover, and Gavin Weddington hit a clutch step-back three to bring the deficit to just two with under 10 seconds remaining.
Calan Howard, who had already delivered a spectacular performance in the 5th grade championship game earlier, stepped down to his age group and led Collins Hill to victory with a team-high 11 points.
Congratulations to our 4th Grade GYBA Champions, the Collins Hill Eagles!
5th Grade Boys Championship
Grayson 45 v Collins Hill 44
Grayson pulls off a big-time championship game win over Collins Hill in the GYBA 5th Grade Division! This game lived up to the hype, from the intensity of the fans and coaches to the spectacular play of the athletes. The Grayson team put on a show in transition with their passing and electrified the crowd with their defensive pressure.
Bryson Worley was a game-changer with his length inside, putting up a dominant double-double while controlling both the offensive and defensive glass. He also had numerous tough finishes at the rim. Tre Allen controlled the pace of the game, contributing timely buckets and knocking down clutch free throws in a 12-point performance that helped lead Grayson to the GYBA 5th Grade Boys Championship.
Collins Hill played a great game despite the loss. Calan Howard was a bright spot, stepping up while playing in an older division and finishing with 14 points in the defeat.
6th Grade Boys Championship
Grayson 48 v Archer 38
Grayson took home a big-time championship win over Archer in the GYBA 6th Grade Championship game, surviving a chippy, hard-fought battle from start to finish. Both teams brought intensity on both ends of the floor, but in the end, it was Grayson’s dynamic backcourt that made the difference
The duo of Kobe Owusu and Kaleo Brown has been a problem for opponents all season, and they delivered again on the biggest stage. Owusu, in particular, took over in the second half, going on a scorching scoring run that created the separation Grayson needed to pull away. His ability to attack the rim, knock down tough shots, and control the pace was the deciding factor in the championship clash.
Despite the loss, Archer’s Dawson Cope put together a strong performance, battling through tough defense and making big plays to keep his team in it. He showed great poise under pressure, knocking down key shots and making an impact on both ends of the floor.
Archer fought hard, matching Grayson’s energy and physicality throughout the game, but they just couldn’t contain Owusu’s offensive explosion. Brown also played a crucial role, handling pressure, facilitating the offense, and locking in on defense to help seal the win.
In the end, Grayson proved why they’ve been the team to beat all season, closing out a statement victory and cementing themselves as the GYBA 6th Grade Champions.
7th Grade Championship
Milton 39 v North Gwinnett 31
The Milton Eagles took home the trophy at GYBA in our 7th Grade Boys Division. They’ve been outstanding all season, and they showcased their excellent teamwork in today's championship win over North Gwinnett.
This championship game featured great guard play, with Ej Crockett and Jax Teal leading Milton and Jordan Lynch standing out for North Gwinnett. Ej Crockett excelled at finding his spots in the zone, scoring on isolation plays, and making key plays to help his team maintain the lead. Jax Teal also delivered a strong performance for Milton, using his pace to freeze defenders and beat them to the basket for layups or dump-offs to teammates.
Jordan Lynch was a bright spot for North Gwinnett, making numerous tough, contested shots in an effort to keep his team in the game. However, his efforts alone weren’t enough to overcome Milton’s dominance.
Congratulations to the Milton Eagles on winning the 7th Grade Boys GYBA Championship!
8th Grade Boys Championship
Gainesville 62 v Milton 43
Gainesville secured a hard-fought championship victory over the Milton Eagles in a game that showcased their scrappy defense, great coaching, and relentless energy from start to finish. Both teams battled, but Gainesville’s ability to control the paint and capitalize on transition opportunities proved to be the difference.
Jaxton Trammell was an absolute force in the post, dominating the glass and protecting the rim on the defensive end. Milton had no answer for his size and physicality as he controlled the boards, altered shots, and gave Gainesville a strong inside presence that set the tone for the game.
On the perimeter, Henry Cato delivered another standout performance, finding his spots and knocking down big shots when his team needed them most. Whether it was pulling up for key jumpers or finishing in transition, Cato’s scoring ability was on full display, giving Gainesville a consistent offensive weapon throughout the game.
Despite the loss, Milton’s Jamison Door showed why he’s one of the top shooters in the league. He did a great job getting to his spots and knocking down shots, keeping Milton in the game with his smooth shooting stroke and offensive awareness. His ability to create space and hit tough shots was a bright spot for the Eagles in a tough championship battle.
In the end, Gainesville’s relentless defense and well-executed game plan proved to be too much, securing them the championship and solidifying their place as the best team in the league.
5/6th Grade Girls Championship
Grayson 46 v Marist 23
Grayson put on a commanding performance in the GYBA Championship game, securing a dominant 46-23 victory over Marist. From start to finish, Grayson controlled the pace with sharp execution, strong team play, and standout performances from their key players.
Leading the charge was Jayla Williams (#23), the team’s star player, who showcased her all-around game on the biggest stage. She was aggressive attacking the basket, finishing tough shots, and setting the tone on both ends of the floor. Williams’ ability to take over the game made it clear why she’s been the go-to player all season.
Alongside her, Kylie McCluskey (#44) played a crucial role with her great vision, smooth ball handling, and reliable shooting. She orchestrated the offense beautifully, creating opportunities for her teammates while also knocking down key shots when needed. Her ability to control the tempo and make the right plays kept Grayson in full command of the game.
Despite the loss, Marist’s Kaylen Secord (#24) put together a strong effort, showing why she’s the leader of her team. She battled through Grayson’s tough defense, finding ways to score and making an impact wherever she could. Secord’s skill and determination were on full display, and she remained a bright spot for Marist throughout the game.
In the end, Grayson’s depth, talent, and execution proved too much to handle, as they cruised to a well-earned championship victory, capping off an impressive season in dominant fashion.
7/8th Grade Girls Championship
Johns Creek 40 v Milton 30
The Johns Creek 7/8th Grade Girls took home the GYBA 7/8th Grade Girls Basketball title with a hard-fought win over the Milton Eagles in the championship game. From start to finish, Johns Creek set the tone with relentless defense and high-energy play, overwhelming Milton with their pace and execution.
London Antoine was the star of the game, leading her team on both ends of the floor just as she had all season. Her ball pressure on defense disrupted Milton’s offense, forcing turnovers and creating easy transition opportunities. She was unstoppable in the open court, pushing the tempo and making key plays that kept Johns Creek in control.
Despite the loss, Milton’s Jaelyn Allen put up a strong performance, showing off her handles and knocking down tough shots to keep her team in the fight. She played with poise under pressure and was a bright spot for the Eagles in an otherwise challenging game.
Ultimately, though, this game belonged to Johns Creek. Their teamwork, defensive intensity, and fast-paced attack proved too much to handle, and they closed out the game in dominant fashion. With Antoine leading the charge, they left no doubt that they were the best team in the division, capping off a stellar season with a championship to remember.
