GHSA Girls Final 4 Preview 3A-2A
The #MarchtoMacon has not disappointed. The Final Four kicks off tomorrow and it has been a fun ride. There have been some upsets and surprises, but only one team will reign supreme. Let's take a look at the 3A and 2A Final Four matchups.
AAA
Westminster vs Lumpkin County - Saturday March 5 2pm @ GCSU
Westminster took down Sumter County while Lumpkin beat Cross Creek to reach the Final Four. The top player in this matchup is definitely Courtney Ogden; the big time junior talent is amongst the best in the Peach State. At 6-foot-1 she uses her size advantage to be effective inside-out. Lumpkin will have to have a solid defensive game plan to contain the Stanford commit. Lumpkin has been one of the most consistent teams in the state. Look for Kate Jackson, Lexi Pierce, Averi Jones, and Mary Mullinax to step up in this one.
Greater Atlanta Christian vs Pierce County - Saturday March 5 6pm @ GCSU
GAC edged out Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe and Pierce County defeated Central. Pierce County has a solid core of region POY, Natalie Herrin, Tivona Myles, Makayla Etheridge, Harley White, and Reagan Larson. GAC brings the fire power of Kaleigh Addie to the table. The Xavier commit is a dynamic scorer and can score it in flurries. This should be a fun matchup. Don't be surprised to see Herrin and Addie duking it out on the offensive end.
AA
Elbert County vs Josey - Friday March 4 2pm @ GCSU
After Elbert's 30-point victory over Callaway and Josey's win over Fannin County, these two teams will battle it out in the Final Four. These two teams are very familiar with each other after a meeting in the Elite Eight last season and a regular season meeting earlier this season. Elbert County has two good shot makers in Niya Moon and Terrace Hester. Josey brings a lot of toughness to the game behind Aqoyas Cody's physicality. She does some of everything for her team, especially a lot of the dirty work. The Eagles will also need a big game out of senior Ky'shonna Brown.
Northeast Macon vs Rabun County - Friday March 4 6pm @ GCSU
Both of these teams won big to advance to this Final Four stage. Jakia Little will look to continue leading her team as she has done all season. The speedster is tough to stop once she gets downhill with her speed and quick first step. Rabun County has proven they can win big games and play with poise. Senior Gracie Deetz and sophomore Lucy Hood will likely be the X-factors for the Wildcats. If Rabun can contain Little, the No. 1 team in the state should prevail.
