HoopSeenW Camp Top Performers Part II
Our first HoopSeenW camp was definitely one to remember. Coach Angie Hembree did a terrific job of structuring a camp to help the players gain knowledge and keep them engaged. There were a number of players who stood out during game play. Here is the second group of overall top performers.
Arnold has a go to move that she got defenders with every time - the in-and-out dribble. She utilized that move multiple times, showing her ability to get to the basket with ease. Not only is she effective off the dribble and in transition, but she shoots the ball from the outside at an efficient rate. Whether it is a 3-pointer or a mid range shot, she was able to consistently hit both.
Along with her fellow teammate Madison Lee, Cain was another player with great versatility. The 5-foot-10 wing out of Galloway has a strong, stout frame. She is a workhorse that does a lot of the dirty work, especially on the boards. On the offensive end, she can score it in the paint and make plays around the perimeter. A lot of the work she does won’t show up on the stat sheet though; she does all of the little things to help her team win. Cain made a near perfect baseball pass down the court to Cameryn Morris, who won the game with her shot at the buzzer. That moment simply does not happen without Cain’s pass.
Lee is definitely a jack of all trades. At 6-foot-1, she was the most versatile player there. Her size and length allowed her to score the ball inside-out and defend multiple positions. Offensively, she knows how to work the paint, scoring from both the low and high post. She also made some impressive moves off the dribble. Expect her to take on a big load at Statesboro for her senior season.
Snead is an absolute blur on the court. The speed at which she gets up and down the floor with the ball in her hand is absurd. She has a variety of moves she likes to make with her impressive handle. That combined with her speed makes her a match up nightmare. She showed that she is comfortable both dribbling and finishing with either hand as well. Her ability to be a true floor general really stood out to those in attendance. She was able to direct traffic and showed she can be a vocal leader. Snead impressed with her defensive ability where she used her speed to create turnovers.
Taylor excelled making plays off the dribble throughout the day. The 5-foot-6 guard is dangerous off the dribble due to her craftiness and ability to read the defense and make moves accordingly around the basket. She is another player that could easily be on the All-Defense team as well. She hardly gave the ball handler room to breathe and showed that she understands how to be an effective help side defender too.
