@JustinByerly’s Three Things From The #ATLJAM on Saturday
It was great to be back at Suwanee Sports Academy in northern Atlanta. Our HoopSeen Atlanta Jam has quite a bit of talent and we look forward to diving into the content over the next couple of days.
Team Florida Has The Goods
Team Florida 2022 has some big-time college prospects. The program out of the Sunshine State won both of their games today by a 70-point margin combined. A big reason was the big men Brenen Lorient and Manok Lual.
Lorient, a junior forward was probably the best player that I saw on the day with his athleticism, rebounding and shot blocking ability. He gets out in transition and loves to attack the rim with all that he has. He currently holds no offers but that is going to change quick.
Lual, a 6-foot-9 junior forward was impressive as well. He is a versatile prospect that can stretch the floor and make defenders have to come out and guard him on the perimeter. His ball-handling was better than what you would expect from a guy his size. Lual holds offers from Kennesaw State and Stetson at this point.
This well coached bunch are going to be fun to track over the next two years and I expect that they will be one of the top independent teams around the Southeast.
Tennessee Tigers Bring It Every Year
Chip Smith’s bunch of tough nosed, skilled, team-first guys get it done every time they step on the floor. They are fun to watch, everyone gets involved and every year they have some college prospects.
This year, Collin Gore, a 5-foot-11 guard from Upperman HS (TN) in his first two games on the weekend knocked down 8-9 from three-point range and averaged close to 16 points per game. Gore has a solid handle and you can’t give him much room or he is going to make you pay. He is not a guy that you can leave open beyond the three-point line. His quickness and his ability to move the floor makes him hard to stay in front of. He holds an offer from Berry University.
Gone to Carolina
Demar Anderson, a 6-foot-3 guard out of Charlotte, North Carolina has been the bright spot for Team Synergy this weekend. He scored 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in his first game, a loss to Team Dickerson Celtics and followed that up with 14 points and 4 rebounds against Atlanta Wolfpack. The former North Mecklenburg (NC) standout is now at Victory Christian, also in Charlotte.
Anderson holds offers from USC-Upstate and Robert Morris and has been hearing lately from Western Carolina.
