Best of The Preview Circuit: Top Breakout Players
With eight camps spread out over September and October, there was bound to be breakout players from our Fall Preview camp series. We look back on our event stage and picked the five biggest breakout players from the camps.
Our invite-only Elite Preview camp will always be a stage that younger players can grow their profile on. At this year’s 2022-23 Elite Preview camp, that guy was Campbell. The big man was an anchor on a team that went 3-0 on the day and he was one of the rebounders at all of our camps this fall. Campbell played his way into the conversation of overall big men in Georgia’s 2022 class. He was just simply outstanding. Meadowcreek consistently has big men who contribute and Campbell should be next in line to be a terrific Mustang in the future. - Justin Young
A story started at our Alabama Fall Preview camp this fall as the Dothan guard showcased his ability as a two-way centerpiece. It's not out of the question for Glover to one day take on the challenge of guarding the other team's top prospect while shouldering a bulk of his team's offensive possessions. Armed with a long wingspan and excellent lateral quickness, Glover routinely beat prospects to spots and turned defense to offense. For spurts at a time, he took control of the scoreboard on both ends of the court. As his confidence as a capable prospect grows, it is not out of the question for Dothan to have a Division I guard. - Tai Young
It is always a plus when a guy comes into a camp that we haven’t put our eyes on before and leaves our HoopSeen staff really impressed. That was the case with 6-foot-8 forward Jaleb Grant out of Charlotte (NC) Harding University. Grant is able to stretch the floor and pull bigger defenders out on the perimeter with his ability to shoot it consistently out to the three-point stripe earning a spot on our Top Overall Performers list from the camp. The long and lanky forward showed he can rebound and alter shots in the paint and on more than one occasion started the break off the board. With his size, length and evolving skill-set, Grant should be a prospect that low-major programs take a closer look at in the 2021 class. If he adds weight and some more muscle to his frame his ceiling would be even higher. - Justin Byerly
We started our Fall Preview camp series in Georgia and saw a lot of terrific talent in that first setting. With 160 campers all trying to make an impact and impression, it was the Baton Rouge, LA native that caught our attention the most. We knew about him coming into the camp, thanks to his experience as a member of Louisiana Elite at our team travel events. Robinson moved to the Atlanta area to attend Core4 and he jumped right into the conversation with his play at the Fall Preview camp. He’s an all-around player who is bouncy when he gets near the rim. Robinson can shoot well, score well, handle well and control the game. Robinson has a great basketball frame who showed that he can provide value at several facets of the game. Robinson carved out space as one of the top available seniors in Georgia. - Justin Young
WIth a name like LeBron, you better be good. He is. Thomas is an aggressive guard that finishes strong at the rim through contact. The 6-foot-2 guard is very good in transition both with the ball and when filling the lane. What impressed us the most about Thomas was his unselfishness, his ability to rebound and his explosiveness when attacking the rim. He is a pass-first point guard that can score at will when he wants. He made mid-range jumpers and showed the ability to knock down shots beyond the three-point line consistently. Couple all of that with a high basketball IQ and a guy that just simply doesn't make mistakes then you have a college level prospect. The sophomore prospect out of Lee County (SC) Central HS is one of the guys that can play positionless basketball and just understands where to be on the floor and how to put the ball in the basket. Simple as that. - Justin Byerly
