Best of the Preview Circuit: My Guys
As we wrap up our content from our 2019 Fall Preview camp series, we wanted to highlight the guy that just stood out to each of our evaluators the most. We call these players “My Guys”. Meet ‘em.
I’m just a flat of fan of guys that I can label with the “Gets stuff done” tag on a nightly basis. The newly minted member of this very small group of players is one that has only been in Georgia for a couple of months. At our second fall preview camp, Brito did it all. Literally. As one of the bigger players on his team, Brito manned the post despite it not being his natural position. While some players would’ve buckled and complained, the 6 foot 4 guard cleaned the glass as if he was the biggest on the court. With his versatility and skill level, a nice division one sleeper resides at Trinity Christian. - Tai Young
I really like the upside that Felton brings at the next level. He has the size at 6-foot-8 and an evolving skill set. He runs the floor well and showed he can make the right pass out of the block. One of the best rebounders we saw at the NC Preview Camp, Felton always puts a body on the opposition when a shot goes up earning a spot on our Top Performer list from The Preview. This is a player to track in North Carolina in the 2021 class and he should see plenty of competition this season playing at Raleigh (NC) Millbrook High School, on paper the best team in the state. Currently, he has offers from Appalachian State, Elon, and High Point with some high-major interest. He recently took an unofficial visit to Blacksburg to see Virginia Tech. - Justin Byerly
Murray’s improvement since the early spring has been noticeable this fall and it was on full display at our Alabama Fall Preview camp. The 6-foot-7 sophomore has quickly went from potential prospect to productive basketball player within the span of a few months. I’ve seen him a few times since the travel season ended, but it’s hard not to like where his game is going. Despite being a youngster, Murray already has a nice body and frame and he can guard multiple positions as a 4/5 big man. The most intriguing part of Murray’s arsenal that will make him a hot commodity is his academics. The Huffman High School product is a high academic student that should attract some of the best mid-major academic schools in the country. - Garrett Tucker
It didn’t take very long to see what kind of valuable prospect the junior is at our North Carolina Preview in Charlotte. The 6-foot-8 forward is a versatile forward who can shine in a variety of ways. He was the most versatile guy I saw at our camps this fall and you can see his highly-skilled game translate well to the college level. He’s a skilled passer, smart scorer, good rebounder and athletic in the open floor. It wouldn’t come as a big surprise to see him develop into one of the more sought after and evaluated player in the class of 2021 in the Southeast. van der Heijden has the game and the academics to draw in a number of programs. - Justin Young
