2019 South Carolina Fall Preview: Team 4
Our South Carolina Fall Preview camp is in the books and our staff of evaluators and coaches have gone through their notes of every player in the camp. Every. Single. One. Today we look closer at Team 3 from camp.
Patrick Green, Aquinas, 5-8, PG, 2023: Freshman, smart, leader scoring point guard with good plus court vision and ball handling abilities. Understand great shot selection with deep 3 point range. In the second game he scored 4 straight 3 pointers and a total of 7 3’s in that game. Makes good reads in pick and roll/pop situations, setting the table for open teammates or finishing with either hand at the rim. Patrick is able to guard his position and has a nose for the ball regarding rebounding. Defensively, creates deflections with foot speed and long arms.
Khiree Cummings, Silver Bluff, 5-10, PG, 2021: Point guard with quickness and is able to get by is man for paint touches to create opportunities for teammates and for himself. Khiree can make open shoots from the perimeter. Good dribbler, passer with either hand and average on ball defender.
Marquette Hood, Ridge View, 5-9, PG 2021: Tough, high energy point guard that gets to his spot for an assist or shot attempt. Marquette is a downhill scorer with good handles. Likes to be physical defensively and offensively. Doesn’t shy away from taking charges!!! Lock down defender.
Jaylen Faber, Westwood, 6-0, G, 2021: Long arms, smooth shooting guard with shooting confidence. Unselfish player, I think he needs to shoot more, great shot selections with high clip percentage. To be more valuable to his team include playing the point guard position more. Jaylen has good decision making abilities with the ball in his hand. Defends well on ball and weak-side help. Rebounding is a premium with Jaylen.
Nicholas Brown, Silver Bluff, 6-0, CG, 2021: Combo guard, can score from the perimeter and at the rim. Has good ball handling skills, court vision in transition and half court. Good on the ball defender.
Ahmad Hunt, Augusta Christian, 5-8, PG, 2021: Speedy point guard, that puts pressure on the defense in transition and in the half court set. Understands how to effectively use ball screens to get downhill to score at the basket, make a pass in traffic and good court vision to kick-out to open perimeter teammate. Defends well with quick feet and active hands.
George Covington. Riverside, 6-3, SF, 2023: Young freshman shooting guard that will continue to get better with daily shooting reps. Good shot selection from the perimeter, will make the extra pass for a better shot. Good attitude and very coachable.
Tyson Jones, Butler, 6-5, SF, 2023: Long lanky bouncy freshman forward, with the ability to block/change shots and rebound with good success! Can score effectively in the paint, step out and make the 15-17 foot shot. Tyson is comfortable with starting the break in transition after securing the rebound. Tyson skill set will improve with time and daily reps.
