Top 15U & 16U Performers from Alabama at #BOTS19

With over 900 hundred games by over 300 teams in a four-day period a lot of basketball was played at this year’s Best of The South 2019 event at the Georgia World Congress Center in downtown Atlanta.

A load of talented players graced the 35 courts throughout the weekend and made a name for themselves in front of college coaches from every level. Here are just a few of the standout players in the 15U and 16U division from the state of Alabama.

15U

Martavis Tullis-Graham, Wolverine Basketball

This 6’4 lengthy big man runs the floor like a deer and has great coordination and hands in the open floor. He is the definition of a throwback big who protects the rim and rebounds at a high clip. He is still raw on the offensive end, but he is only 15 and with continued development will be a very interesting prospect out of the state for the class of 2022. - Derik Williams

Tomar Hobdy, Alabama Celtics

The 5-foot-10 guard has a natural feel for the game and is an above average passer. He has a high motor and does a really strong job of forcing turnovers. He recorded 7 steals in a game on the second day of The Best of the South. He possesses a quick first-step that allows him to get touches in the paint and either make a shot or set his big men up. Strong week for the guard from Daleville, Alabama. - Justin Byerly

Rashad Frye, Alabama Celtics

This 6’5” class of 2022 prospect is already a high-volume scorer out of the post. He can use his left and right hand around the basket and has a knack of always being around the ball gobbling up rebounds. He is working on his face up game and mid-range jump shot, but understands his strength is dominating on the inside. With the ability to put up consistent double-doubles his ceiling looks to have no roof. - Derik Williams

16U

Ga’Quincy “Kool-Aid” McKinstry, Alabama Celtics

One of the more physically gifted players from the entire weekend this 5-star Cornerback showed why he is considered one of the best 2-sport stars in the country. He had several big performances throughout the weekend including a 36-point outburst in a victory vs. Team Parsons. He will definitely be talked about as he looks to lead Pinson Valley HS in Birmingham, AL to back-to-back 6A State Championships in Football and Basketball.  - Derik Williams

Kelton Petty, Team Flight

This smooth operator is a walking “Bucket” averaging close to 30 points a game during the event. He scored the ball from every level and was relentless at getting to the rim. He shoots the ball effortlessly with range and while he does not appear to be moving very fast, he consistently beat his defender of the dribble or used his craftiness to create space and knock down shots. He is definitely one of the stock risers from the #BOTS19. - Derik Williams
