SACC wins the 16U National Championship in a close battle
16 AND UNDER: SACC- Moe 63, Savannah United Celtics 56
The Student Athletes of Cobb County (SACC) earned hard-fought victories throughout the tournament while ultimately accomplishing their main objective of winning the 10th Grade Division 1 Championship.
This group kept their foot on the gas against the Savannah United Celtics with no signs of letting up. Their backcourt play was the primary separator on championship Saturday.
Kervens Yacinthe, a 6-foot-3 guard, was a left-handed marksman from beyond the perimeter. His 16 points (4 three-pointers) headed the scoring front for his team. He connected on a combination of spot-up jumpers and pull-ups in transition. Briley Stillwell and Evan Webb contributed solid minutes as well. Stillwell added 15 points and Webb totaled 12 points (4 made three-pointers).
For the Celtics, a late-game momentum push wasn’t enough to secure a comeback. Emondre Smalls made the effort to keep his team in the game by scoring 11 of his 17 points on the second half. Maxwell Hrdilcka scored 11 points (3 made three-pointers) in the second half giving him a total of 13 points in the contest. - Austin Smith
