17U Bob #GIbbons Tournament of Champions title recaps
SUWANEE, GA - The 2019 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions is in the books in the 17 and under division. We crowned champions in the most historic travel team tournament in the country.
17U Black Championship: Florida Knights 86, Team Parsons 70
Guard play has piloted the Florida Knights all weekend long. In the championship game against Team Parsons, the guards took their game to another level higher. The constant perimeter attack held off the best independent team in the country and came away with the championship.
Devin Carter mixed up his scoring, connecting from three, converted at the foul line and drove hard to the rim. He capped off a stellar weekend with an MVP performance with 20 points in the title game. He was unstoppable throughout the event.
Ivan Reynolds had his best game of the tournament, pumping in 18 points, including 13 in the second half.
Alec Oglesby had a great weekend of work and capped it off with 11 points in the title game. Big man Zameron Boozer, point guard Jalen Speer scored and wing Nicholas Louis Jacques each added eight points. Isaiah Elmore scored seven points.
Kario Oquendo led Team Parsons with 14 loud points and Northwestern bound Joe Basimile also had 14. Michael Eads capped off his strong weekend with 11. Jordan Sears added 10. - Justin Young
17U Black Silver: Team WHBH 75, Team Georgia Magic 49
Team WHBH captures the 17U Black Silver Championship at the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions with a 75-49 victory over Team Georgia Magic.
Team WHBH was led by Daniel Loos (Clarksville Academy) and Jeff Normant (Bolivar Central) led the scoring with 17 points each in the title game.
Team Georgia Magic had 19 points from Javian Mosely, rounding out a strong weekend. Dee Morton added eight in the championship game. - Andre Whitehead
17U Orange Championship: Team Splash 80, IAM3rd ICE 73
Team Splash and IAM3rd ICE (White) went head to head in the Orange 17U bracket for the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions. Behind the play of 6-foot-5 undersized center Tobias Thompson, Thompson scored 10 points in the first half and 6-foot 2020 guard Jaylan Green added 8. ICE rushed out to a 33-23 lead at the half over Team Splash.
In the second half, Splash made their comeback behind the play of TreMondi Grimsley who scored 21 points in the second half to finish with 25 on the day and Dequarius Jordan who scored all 17 of his points in the second half. Splash also got 19 points from Shayeon Davis in the
ICE ended up being paced by Tobias Thompson with 14 points. - Justin Byerly
17U Orange Silver: Georgia Stars RD 68, Team Impact 56
Gerald Tillman scored 19 points while Tyriq Brown added 15 points and Jalen Roberts scored 12 points as the Georgia Stars RD won the silver trophy in the Orange division.
Team Impact had 19 points from Caleb Crumly and Yassin Mohamed added 11 in the game.
