16U Bob #Gibbons Tournament of Champions title recaps

16U Black Championship: Georgia Stars 65, Atlanta Xpress 51

The Georgia Stars and The Atlanta XPress battled it out in the afternoon session for the right to be named Bob Gibbons TOC Champions. With all that was on the line, the game began chippy and stayed that way throughout with Georgia Stars winning 65-51.

The scoring from the perimeter was the difference maker for The Georgia Stars with point guard LJ Thomas pouring in 19 points and the shooting of Quincy Ademokoya. The 6-foot-6 wing knocked in four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points.

The Atlanta XPress just could not get it going from outside and looked to have ran out of steam from a long weekend of basketball. The hot shooting Will Richards’ had going in the earlier game wasn’t in the cards this time with everything at stake. XPress was led by Madison Durr with 13 points and Zyair Green with 19 points. - Justin Byerly

16U Orange Championship: RSD 58, Jacksonville Warriors Grey 34

Team RSD used stifling defense and transition offense en route to claiming the 16U Orange championship on Sunday afternoon at Suwanee Sports Academy. They defeated the Jacksonville Warriors by a score of 58-34.

After calling a timeout a few minutes into the game, RSD went on an 8-0 run to extend a 1-point lead to a 17-8 advantage. After a few forced turnovers and easy buckets, RSD never looked back. The Warriors were never able to get the lead back under ten points.

Jordan Jenkins led the way for RSD with 14 points. Jackson Francis added 12 and Konata Werts chipped in with nine points.

Dekenbay Carn led the Jacksonville Warriors with nine points. William Boyd and Hayden Sharpe added six points each.  - Garrett Tucker

16U Orange Silver: BCB 79, Georgia Hurricanes 38

It’s Championship Sunday at Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions. The two teams that faced off in the 16U Orange Silver game was BCB and Georgia Hurricanes.

BCB put on a clinic against the Hurricanes in today’s championship game. The final score was 79-38.

Kenny Colwell led BCB with 22 points in the big win. He is an all-around player, he is able to cut to the basket, get in the lane and score. He’s also able to shoot beyond the arc and has a killer midrange game. BCB’s big man Cory Thomas added 19 points. Thomas showed a lot of upside in the paint and really dominated his defenders on the glass. Guard Tucker Lowes scored 14 points solely on threes and free throws. He had four threes in the win.

The Georgia Hurricanes really struggled offensively and defensively against BCB, Kambren Robinson was the only double-digit scorer for the Hurricanes. - Zach Watson
