Three best players we saw from Alabama at the HoopSeen #ATLJAM

Several Alabama teams had quality showings in front of college coaches at the HoopSeen Atlanta Jam. Our state expert, Garrett Tucker, was on hand to see it all first hand. Here are his picks for the best players from Alabama.

Riley Leonard

Leonard made his mark last year at the Bama Jam as a knockdown shooter. Fast-forward to this year and it's safe to say the sophomore has improved over the course of the high school season. Coming in at 6-foot-5, Leonard is still a sniper with long range on his shot. However, he can't be labeled as just as shooter. The starting quarterback for Fairhope (AL) has a strong frame, and he used it over the weekend to showcase his ability as a three-level scorer. Leonard made some tough, athletic finishes at the rim, as well as some blocks on the glass, raising some eyebrows about his athleticism. He's a guy that mid-major programs should become familiar with quickly.

Tony Shoulders

There weren't many players in the Atlanta Jam field that featured the set of wheels that Athens (AL) combo guard Tony Shoulders showed off from game to game. The wiry, 6-foot-1 guard puts pressure on defenses in transition with his end-to-end speed. The junior is an exciting playmaker in transition, where he is able to score for himself or set up teammates for scoring opportunities. Shoulders was also a nightmare in pick-and-roll scenarios because of his ability to get downhill. He has surfed under the radar for now, but it's safe to say he will make an appearance in our Alabama state rankings when they are updated in a few weeks.

Cole Maddox

Maddox put together a quality high school season at Good Hope (AL) and kept it going this weekend at the Atlanta Jam. The 6-foot-2 guard is a smooth operator and continues to add to his scoring arsenal. Maddox's most impressive attribute is his shooting ability and that helped him lead his team in scoring at 16.5 points per game on the weekend. His creativity with the ball in his hands and his high IQ make him an intriguing option for non-major college programs. I expect him to receive some interest from the Gulf South and other Division II programs.
