Mr. Tip-Off Tough Guy: Three guys you can go to war with
Tough guys. We love them at HoopSeen. Who will raise the level of toughness on the hardwood? That’s one of the attributes that we are always looking for at our events. These three guys certainly did.
Kaleb Scott, Garner Road (pictured above): Someone said he’s a mixture of David West, the former NBA player who is now the Garner Road head coach, and Grant Williams of Tennessee fame. That’s a high bar to set. Scott may look more like the two in physical features than anything else. But the toughness factor is certainly developing. Scott didn’t have too many opposing players square up with him in the paint and most passed out of situations that meant they’d have to go through Scott. It wouldn’t be a big surprised to see schools from the CAA, SoCon, Sun Belt and perhaps even the American give him a good run on the recruiting front this spring. - Justin Young
Felix Uadiale, HYPE Hawks: Maryville college is going to reap the benefits of Felix Uadiales tenacity at some point in his career as there won’t be a player to outwork him. With a frame that was carved out of stone, Uadiale has made a name for himself throughout his senior season as a prospect that takes no days off. Despite making his commitment, Uadiale’s motor runs the same as it did when he had nothing to commit too. His knack for rebounding has made him a valuable piece for both Eagle’s Landing Christian and now the Hype Hawks. For all of the crossovers, points, and showmanship that comes standard on every team, the ones that win have a player of Uaidale’s ilk. - Tai Young
Jordan Vick, Team Trezz: The 7th grader playing up an age bracket was one of the best scorers throughout the weekend regardless of division. One attribute I was impressed by was during my first time watching him. Vick had already poured in 18 points in the first half and early in the second half took a shot to the mouth. The hit forced him to come to the bench and a lot of blood followed. After getting cleaned back up, VIck went on to score 11 more points in the half and finish with 29. I like that toughness. - Justin Byerly
